The meeting held in Rome between Roberto Alesse, Director of the Customs and Monopolies Agency, Andrea De Gennaro, Commander General of the Finance Guard, and Genti Gazheli, Director of the Albanian Customs Administration, aimed at bolstering collaboration between Italy and Albania in the customs domain. The discussions focused on enhancing efforts to ensure the legality and security of cross-border commercial activities. This involves updating existing agreements, particularly to align Albanian customs with European standards regarding controls and anti-fraud measures. Additionally, plans were laid out to initiate the exchange of experiences and training activities between the ports of Ancona, Bari, and Brindisi in Italy and the Albanian ports of Durres and Vlora. Lastly, the Finance Guard, with a 25-year mission in Albania to combat illicit maritime activities, will strengthen its initiatives in the customs sector.
